ICA Cristo Rey Participates in SFCAHT Conference
ICA Cristo Rey representatives
were invited by Marianna Warmee,
Federal Administrative Judge &
Chair, SFCAHT, to participate in the
San Francisco Collaborative Against
Human Trafficking Conference- held
on December 7th at the California State
Building.
Our students, accompanied by Celine
Curran (Mission Advancement) and
Paulina Maravilla (Admissions),
enjoyed being welcomed by Dr. Emily
Murase, Commission on Women,
Assemblyman Phil Ting, Elmy Bermejo
and Annmarie Conroy, Assistant US
Attorney, as well as many others who
took time to visit with our ICA CR
delegation.
The keynote address from Savannah
Sanders followed by the Plenary Panel
Presentation moderated by Mariann
Warmee was very enlightening. The
panel participants included:
“I am so happy I was able to be
informed about the issue with human
trafficking. Rebecca Marcus inspired
me because although she is a defense
attorney, she still cared for the victims
and their feelings. All of the speakers
spoke very professionally.”
~ Daisha Thomas-Duffin ‘20
U.S. Attorney Brian Stretch, San
Francisco District Attorney George
Gascon, Alameda County District
Attorney Nancy O’Malley, Rebecca
Marcus, San Francisco Public Defender
Jeff Adachi, FBI Special Agent in
Charge (SAC) John Bennett, Homeland
Security Investigations (HSI) SAC Ryan
Spradlin and Regional Representative
“There are many lessons and new
realities I have received from this
conference. There were a lot of
messages conveyed of which I had
no idea. I also learned useful signs
to identify a trafficker, with the See
Something - Say Something approach.”

Department of Labor, Elmy Bermejo.
In addition, U.S. Senator Dianne
