WorldWideWomen Girls ’ Festival
On Saturday , October 15th , ICA Cristo Rey was invited to participate in an amazing opportunity ; The WorldWideWomen Girls ’ Festival – held at Fort Mason – was an event designed to empower girls for their whole lives . WorldWideWomen is dedicated to building a global movement for women and girls ’ equality through technology , philanthropy , and advocacy . The day was scheduled with over 100 activities , including interactive skill-building workshops , a space dedicated to everything STEAM ( science , tech , engineering , art , and math ), sports activities , performances , a girls fashion show , and BizWorld ’ s own “ Shark Tank ”– style ” Girlpreneur ” competition . Special guests included filmmaker and Representation Project CEO Jennifer Siebel Newsom , Olympic soccer player Brandi Chastain , Silicon Valley venture capitalists Tim Draper and Sue Siegel , and “ Shark Tank ” investor Mark Cuban . ICA Cristo Rey was proud to be a partner program featured at the Girls Festival where our ICA Cristo Rey Ambassadors shared information about our program . §
Students Learn About the Constitution
On October 14th , the San Francisco Chapter of ABOTA Foundation invited ICA Cristo Rey to join them for an experience at the United States District Court , Ceremonial Courtroom designed to shape our students into more active and informed civic participants .
The James Otis Lecture Series was created to educate and inspire students across the nation so they can have appropriate knowledge of and respect for the U . S . Constitution . The JOL field trip experience for high school students allows them to hear from legal professionals , historians and other experts on relevant topics anchored in the Constitution . §
Dr . Veronica Hunnicutt Visits ICA
It was a pleasure to welcome Dr . Veronica Hunnicutt , former administrator at City College and former Commissioner on both the Commission on the Status of Women and the San Francisco Housing Authority . Presently , Dr . Hunnicutt offers various workshops & programs supporting young women in achieving their academic and personal goals . Participating in her workshop at ICA Cristo Rey proved to be very inspirational for our freshmen . §
