As part of a month-long project on “ selling ” their country , AP Spanish students had to cook and explain what they made and how it represented their country . Additionally , they had to create a tour guide and “ sell ” their tour package to convince their classmates to visit their country .
On November 18th , ICA ’ s Fil-Am Club and Riordan ’ s Pilipino American Coalition ( PAC ) co-hosted ICA ’ s first Kamayan Dinner , Thanksgiving … the Filipinx way . We are excited to be moving forward with integrating technology into the classrooms . Thanks to the efforts of Sister Diane Aruda , O . P ., Tim Szarnicki & the Mission Advancement Department , and to the generosity of Shea Family Charities and the Redwood Project Foundation for responding to our need . Their gifts have helped us realize the dream of having a Chromebook on campus for each ICA student .
This past November , ICA Cristo Rey students in Religious Studies classes continued to reach out to the community by creating Christmas cards wishing hope and encouragement to inmates in San Francisco County ’ s jail .
This project was part of the Archdiocese of San Francisco ’ s Pen Pal Jr . Project , connecting adolescent Catholic school and Religious Education students to inmates in San Francisco County Jail and at San Quentin State Prison ’ s “ Death Row ” through an art project . Both students and inmates remain anonymous to one another . The objectives are to teach students about corporal works of mercy , to lead them to embrace the concept of restorative justice and to give them an understanding of wrongdoing in their lives .
