ICA Update
our community through active service to others and provides opportunities for the whole community to join in living out the pillars . This might take the form of faculty and staff participating in retreats or our whole school community stopping at the start of each day , before lunch , and at the end of each day to reflect and see God ’ s presence in our day . We want to make it clear that we must stop , look , and listen to the ways in which we are being called to build our community with the gifts of faith , hope and love . We are successful in our efforts when we see our community living out the pillars in the many facets of our daily lives . Navigating through a rigorous college prep curriculum , the responsibilities of a corporate work study position , college applications and acceptances , extra-curricular activities , and doing it all as women of faith , learning , leadership , community and vision is not easy . The Dominican pillars are our central supports . Kim leads this important effort at a time when our community really needs the support to live life with faith , hope and love alive in our hearts and fueling our actions . This ministry provides a central focus to the complex experience at ICA Cristo Rey . As individuals and as a community , we come together around the pillars because they help inform our decisions and focus us as we continue the ICA Cristo Rey tradition . Kim says she is humbled by our students ’ willingness to use the pillars to guide them . “ They have so much happening in their lives and yet they get up every day and come to school and go to work . They take their role as Campus Ministers very seriously and openly talk about their relationship with God . The depth with which they are willing to open up to understand their faith and to help their sisters understand their faith is humbling .” She continues saying , “ Everyday brings new gifts
Meals on Wheels
When an email came from Meals on Wheels stating , " We have two volunteer opportunities to support homebound seniors for Valentine ’ s Day ", students of ICA answered the call . Students made time in their classes to create both Valentine ’ s Day cards and Birthday cards , which were delivered through the Meals on Wheels program . §

Ms . Liz Castro challenged her students to bring in toiletries — soap , toothpaste and shampoo — which were then packaged for delivery to Lava Mae , a program at Most Holy Redeemer Church that offers “ mobile hygiene ” to the homeless . §

The ICA Cristo Rey foundation connects generations of sisterhood and provides a unique strength for our students to draw from as they go out to accomplish great things . And it is with a passion for the present and hope for the future that we continue the rich faith tradition that brings our community together and accomplishes our most precious mission . Through this commitment the sense of sisterhood is alive and motivates us to be our best . §
