I
magine an oyster shell breached by tiny
grains of sand. Once inside, those grains
of sand muster up such an environment
that the inside of the oyster shell produces
a beautiful pearl. In our daily lives, those
grains of sand represent adversity transform-
ing us into our current selves—positively pol-
ishing our flaws into unique strengths.
For Annette Watson-Johnson, this metaphor
has become the foundation for her vision in
developing the Girlz Run The World in Pearls
Program to Dynamic Participators Enterprise
Inc.—a non-profit organization. This program
is based on aiding women in discovering
their inner survivor by embracing valuable
power and strengths ultimately formed
during these times of adversity.
