LET'S CLIMB HAPPY 5 TH ANNIVERSARY to IBA Success Magazine! Make Your Move… Level Up… Boss Up… and Let's Climb Together! By Jennifer Yon Each individual can make the necessary changes in their lives to reach their desired outcome. One thing I know for sure is having ability and using it are two different things. Business throws curve balls all the time, but if you master how to catch them… there is no limit to your potential success! My view on the curves of frustration, rejection, finances and complacency are as follows: 1. Frustration can kill the best plan in motion; it can sabotage a sales team, yet create learning experiences that can change the way you handle business. Having the ability to handle frustration will keep your image clean and clients happy. When you feel the angry monster brewing because someone has pushed the wrong button, be polite and excuse yourself... even if that means hanging up on someone. Negative opinions of others are not needed. Never subject yourself to it… deliver yourself from it and keep it moving! 2. Rejection can be like a big yellow bus blocking the road with an angry driver in the seat. Are you the person who refuses to communicate with that driver for fear of being rejected? Or are you the person who knows how to handle rejection? One thing for sure, there are no yes’s without no’s, and you cannot get to your destination by allowing a bully or broke down mentality to block the road. Even if you think you know the answer, communicate your objective and be prepared to find a different route if needed. There is no real success without rejection. The more rejection is received, the more you will have learned, which gets you closer to reaching your goals. 36 IBA Success Magazine n VOL 5, Issue 1 3. Handling your finances as a business owner will give you the knowledge and insight to prepare for financial curves along the road. Understanding the importance of earning and saving is key. Keep accurate records of your income and expenses. By doing this, you eliminate financial uncertainty, leaving your mind at ease to focus on making the money! With a clear mind, revenue can be created. You can’t deposit excuses, so always know your balance and play chess, not checkers! 4. As a mother, I remember telling my daughter not to get comfortable as she completed high school. One lesson I shared with her was that if you just do enough, one bump in the road could cause you to lose out. Therefore, reach for the stars, look to exceed the expectations of others, and remember, earning a “c” clearly indicates complacency. When we get complacent, we stop growing, sharing, creating and eventually living. My advice in managing complacency is stay focused on your goals and stop wasting time and energy on projects that are not result driven to take to you to the next level. As we move through the first quarter of the year… I encourage you all to LEVEL UP, and knock fear, rejection, poor finances, and complacency in the face… Live your life as if it’s your last. We only have one life so Let’s Climb Together. n I t’s our Anniversary so in this Let’s Climb, let’s take a ride down memory lane. This Let’s Climb is a reprint with a slight tweak from the very first issue released in December 2014. My message remains the same, however the lessons I have learned over the past four years have groomed me into a wiser and stronger businesswoman. Happy Anniversary to IBA Success Magazine and Let’s Continue to Climb together and reach heights only dreamed about.
