Once he decided that he didn’t want
to take any classes, but rather enjoy
his time and explore, he signed up
for the two-week trip to Spain.
“Actually, my parents were the ones
who told me not to take any classes. They just wanted me to have
fun and experience new places and
people, which is exactly what I did,”
remarked Carson.
“We were staying right in Barcelona,
and really didn’t do much traveling
because we were there for such a
short period of time,” Carson reminisced.
“We went to all the tourist attractions, like Montjuic Castle and
the Forum Building, but the part I
enjoyed the most was watching the
city light up around 10 p.m. every
night.,” Carson continued.
“We took advantage of every minute
of free time our professors gave us.”
Although Jake was able to do more
traveling, Erik was given more freedom in the eve nings to explore the
city and immerse himself into the
Spanish culture.

“It was truly an experience of a
lifetime. The people I met and the
friends I made will forever be ingrained into my memory. I encourage everyone to take some time
off, whether it’s in college or after,
to explore outside of their comfort
zone, because my short two-week
trip to Spain changed my outlook on
the world,” Carson expressed.
Though each of their experiences
was very different, both men had a
similar responses about their experiences: “life changing!”
Nowadays you can put a price tag
on almost anything, but no matter
how much money you have, you
will never be able to purchase time.
Time, just as much as money, are
two things that college students don’t
have a lot of. However, we have the
opportunity of a lifetime sitting right
in front of us: the opportunity to
explore the world around us with our
peers, before what we college kids
like to call the “real world” begins.
I understand that studying abroad
may not be appealing to everyone,
but who doesn’t like a good adventure from time to time?
