y father was a quitter. I’m a quitter, too.
There’s no way to rack up more than a
hundred jobs, as I have, without being a quitter.
I have also been fired more than a dozen times,
way more than my father ever was, which I think
makes me look somewhat better by comparison. The ratio of jobs I have quit to jobs I have
been fired from is only slightly more than eight
to one, and I take some pride in that. I have been
terminated, sacked, axed, canned, dismissed,
cashiered, shown the door, pink-slipped, fired
more times than most people have been hired.
I am not bragging, but still. Aside from quitting,
and being fired, I have been let go, laid off, not
retained, cut, and, once it came into fashion,
downsized. Of all the times I have been thrown
