FACULTY & RESEARCH

A brief introduction to new research strategy unveiled

Hult is launching a new research strategy that will make research an integral part of who we are and what we do . On a general level , we want our research to focus on the issues that are uppermost in global business leaders ’ minds . On a specific level , we want to use global-minded , discipline-based research to tackle two key challenges : Transforming Behavior and Creating Disruption .
Transforming Behavior relates to the continuous improvement of organizational and personal leadership practices . Leaders rarely know which methods effectively improve individual and group performance , so we will attempt to solve this issue by tackling questions such as , “ How do training and enablement programs impact employees long term ?”
Creating Disruption relates to strategies : the actions that companies take to anticipate , react to , and shape changes in markets . These include the creation , implementation , and assessment of strategies to optimize performance , especially when operating in international markets . We will tackle questions such as , “ What trends and scenarios will disrupt current markets ?” and “ Which strategies successfully create disruption ?”
In order to support the faculty at the heart of this research strategy , we have established Global Research Lead roles to set direction and cultivate both large and small projects . We have appointed two distinguished members of our faculty to serve as Global Research Leads : Dr . Amanda Nimon-Peters , who will oversee research in Transforming Behavior , and Dr . Ted Ladd , who will oversee research in Creating Disruption .
In terms of output , our new research strategy will strive for a variety of different methods on three fronts : publications , learning resources , and events or conferences . We expect to have initial results from some research projects ready to share with our teaching community at the Hult Global Faculty Summit in January 2017 . Faculty attending this event will have the opportunity to engage with our research strategy and make connections with colleagues across both campuses and lines of undergraduate , postgraduate , and executive education .
