“To honour its anniversary, on Thursday 25th May, RoSPA held a Centenary Garden Party at Buckingham Palace, which was hosted by HRH The Duke of York and HRH Princess Eugenie of York.” O n Tuesday 20th June, RoSPA’s Health & Safety Awards Presentation Ceremonies and Gala Dinner were held at ExCeL London, alongside Safety & Health Expo 2017. Further presentation ceremonies and gala dinners were also held in Birmingham during July and another will take place in Glasgow in September. As Media Partners for Safety & Health Expo 2017, HSE International were kindly invited to attend the RoSPA Gala Dinner in London. As the first press organisation to attend the event, we were honoured to be present, alongside key staff and award winners who celebrated their achievements on this very special evening. RoSPA Vice President, Lord Jordan CBE, opened the proceedings with a short speech praising the success of this year’s winners and describing the key role NEBOSH (National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health) plays as the headline sponsor of the awards. He stated: “Through RoSPA, they (award winners) generously share their expertise, leaving a legacy of learning that benefits all and motivates their peers to even greater success.” Errol Taylor, RoSPA’s acting Chief Executive, followed this introduction with a speech that poignantly addressed tragic events at Grenfell Tower, moving on to commend the achievements of RoSPA and it’s centenary year celebrations. Errol went on to highlight the importance of providing information for parents with children under the age of 5 to help prevent accidents and unnecessary deaths. To tackle the issue, RoSPA has launched the Brighter Beginnings Appeal - a campaign aimed at protecting the youngest  HSE INTERNATIONAL 37
