Established in 2013 , Contego is a leading National stockist , supplier and distributor of safety clothing and equipment .
The origins of Contego can be traced back to 1995 , when Managing Director Jim Lewis , alongside his father , began trading as Sussex Safetywear , from a small shop owned by another business his family operated . The desire to enter the safety industry had commenced when a family member suffered an accident at work that could have easily been prevented by the wearing of correct PPE .
With a strong determination to succeed , Contego first plied their wares to the local industry with a typed paper price list , stocking leading brands in safety footwear , gloves and PPE . By 2000 , the business had grown considerably and Jim felt the need to move into purpose-built premises . Jim continues : “ With the incorporation of Beavertec , Contego was established in April 2013 with the aim of strengthening our National presence . Since then , the company has continued to enjoy steady growth in size and reputation , with a dedication to customer service , reliable products and knowledgeable staff at our core .”
PRODUCT RANGE Jim comments : “ Due to extensive products we provide being so versatile , Contego covers a vast array of industries , from Construction , Aviation and Retail , to Catering , Agriculture , Automotive and many more . We service all of the United Kingdom and deliver products to customers in Europe and internationally too , although our speciality lies in servicing the UK market .”
Best-selling product ranges at Contego include extensive clothing - both customised and plain , gloves , footwear , and PPE . Contego runs and in house embroidery and print workshop , providing the complete in house branded garment solution .
The company owns and distributes Wearmaster - a brand consisting of a select range of safety and workwear products designed to meet and exceed customer expectations . The brand was created to fill a gap in the market for high quality , well designed items that offer exceptional value .
Contego is also an approved distributor for most of the well-known brands within the industry , such as clothing from Regatta , ProGARM , and Portwest , footwear from Bata , Goliath , Lavoro , Cofra , Caterpillar , and CAT and PPE products from Scott , Honeywell , BLS , Betafit , JSP , Ansell and Centurion .
Contego has the capability to directly source products from a wealth of over 150 suppliers and brands , which ensures a comprehensive offering of the right products priced competitively . Jim continues : “ 2017 will see 5 new footwear styles launched , including our own very high specification metatarsal protection . New waterproof safety boots , lighter weight polo shirts and advanced gloves will also be available �.
