QUALITY PROTECTIVE WORKWEAR Supertouch was founded by Parvez Akhtar in 1996. Today, it is one of the largest manufacturers and suppliers of PPE and Workwear in the UK. Sangeeta Aeri, Technical Manager tells us more… C urrently operating in the UK, Supertouch sells a complete range of PPE and Workwear, from high-vis to flame-retardant clothing across a number of industries including construction, pharmaceuticals, rail and manufacturing. To mark its 20th year of operation, Supertouch has relocated its head office, including the sales department and distribution centre, to new premises in the West Midlands. Originally based in Brentwood, Essex, the move was a strategic decision in order to support the continued growth and expansion of the business. The National Distribution Centre (NDC), located in Rabone Park, Smethwick, has more than 60,000 sq ft. of distribution space and employs over 75 members of staff. At the end of 2016, the business will also begin serving the Middle-East, exhibiting at Intersec Dubai in January 2017. Sangeeta Aeri, Technical Manager at Supertouch, comes from a clothing background and has been in the industry for 20 years. She joined Supertouch in 2010 and is responsible for product compliance, driving innovation and quality standards in order to bring new products to market. Sangeeta does all of this, while supporting and delivering agreed target KPI’s in-line with company strategy. “I manage the technical development of products from concept through to product approval, competitor benchmarking and sales feedback. I also track new legislation, and develop and evaluate when to bring products to the market. I oversee the technical capability of the supply base and am accountable for ensuring product quality at all times. “At Supertouch, we offer a wide variety of safety equipment for the market from protective gloves, footwear and disposables to hi-visibility jackets, body warmers and flame-retardant coveralls. “With so many products to choose from, perhaps the best product to begin with is our Hi Vis 4 in 1 parka – the perfect solution for the cold winter months. Ideally suited for outdoor professions, the 4 in 1 parka allows the user to mix and match the layers depending on the environment and temperature. Users can choose between the hi-vis reversible body warmer and an outer jacket that can either be worn alone or in combination with the body warmer. There is also the option to include hi-vis t-shirts too; this is an important layer when you consider it is the closest to your skin - a comfortable base can enhance performance.” Moving to the food processing sector, this year, Supertouch launched its non-woven coat with Velcro fastening collar and elasticated cuffs. “This coat provides extra barrier protection for people working in areas where minimising contaminates is of maximum importance.
