SPOTLIGHT PERENCO CONFIRM DEATH OF NORTH SEA WORKER Police are investigating the death of a worker following an industrial incident on a gas platform off the coast of Norfolk. The deceased has been identified as Tyron Jones. O il and gas firm Perenco confirmed a man was fatally injured on Monday 5 December. The company was unable to give details of what happened but said nobody else was hurt. The platform has been closed and gas supplies halted while an investigation is carried out. Norfolk police said the worker had been airlifted to Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, where he later passed away. A spokesman said: “Perenco can confirm that a man has died after an incident on board the Perenco 23A gas platform in the southern North Sea. “The platform, 70 miles off the coast of Norfolk, has been shut down and gas supplies halted. LACK OF SLEEP COSTING UK ECONOMY UP TO £40 BILLION A YEAR • Lower productivity levels and the higher risk of mortality resulting from sleep deprivation have a significant effect on a nation’s economy.
