HP Tango • SUSAN RICHARDS, HPS GLOBAL R&D City Evolution and Office of the Future are driving the need for more efficient solutions that take into account smaller, shared spaces. Couple that with the rise of new generations that put an increasing value on smart and efficient design, and HP’s Imaging, Printing & Solutions team saw a need for new seamless print solutions that could become part of everyday life. The result: HP Tango printers, a prime example of creating compact, smart solutions based on a mobile-first approach, blending function and style. Multi Jet Fusion SONITA LONTOH, 3D MARKETING As more people move to cities, the megacities of the future will be more interested in sharing resources than owning them, and leaving a lighter economic footprint will be of great importance in smaller living spaces. HP strives to follow a circular economy, wherein products are designed and developed to be recycled or reused in the following ways: • • • • Rather than building single-use products out of multiple materials that are discarded after wear and tear, HP is creating solutions that can be purposed from one material and repaired using spare parts. HP Multi Jet Fusion’s (MJF) production of a small series of spare parts shifts the focus from product to service by catering to vertical markets with lower production volumes, for products like orthotic insoles and dental appliances. Ordering spare parts for HP MJF technology removes the need to purchase new machinery, thus removing the creation of waste. P Jet Fusion 3D Printing Solutions enable lightweight H designs, which result in enormous energy savings in the aerospace and automotive industries. As the population ages and the workforce shrinks, automa- tion will become a focus in offsetting the labor gap, and new technologies will require additional training for employees. In response to this, HP has adjusted workflows by: • I ntegrating machine learning and automated function- alities within HP Jet Fusion 3D Printing Solutions. • Introducing digital intelligence to streamline manufacturing processes and offer clear guidance to operators via visual tutorials, which can remove the need for extra training. Implementing physical information architecture and touchpoint coding, which includes color, graphics, and LED indicators that work to grab attention and confirm when processes are complete. As the world becomes more connected through the Internet and other digital platforms, manufacturing has also become digital. HP Jet Fusion 3D Printing Solutions rely on advanced data analytics to monitor the output quality of machines that are produced in different geographies, ensuring alignment across all technologies and products around the world. With smarter, faster technologies come the opportunities for automation and personalization. HP MJF technology can accommodate the need for personalized products like shoe insoles and dental appliances that are made to fit. HP MJF also serves the competitive automotive industry by offering customization options for different vehicle models. Office of the Future, One Life, and PS Security CRISTINA BONDOLOWSKI, PS GLOBAL MARKETING Workforce transformation fueled by changing demo- graphics is creating a significant shift in how we look at work. Today’s business environment is increasingly digital, mobile, and connected, and Millennials and Gen Z are driv- ing a change in what defines work. HP’s Personal Systems organization recognizes the changing needs of these always on-the-go workers, and we’ve developed a comprehensive portfolio of software and devices that allow users to move seamlessly and securely between work and life. Device-as-a-Service MIKE WEIR, PS STRATEGY & SOLUTIONS New business models—specifically offerings moving from transactional to as-a-service models—played an import- ant role in HP’s Print, Personal Systems, and 3D Printing Group’s long-term strategic plans. HP is already moving toward new models, with offerings such as Device-as- a-Service (DaaS), and approaches that will invariably accelerate and evolve in the years to come. 43
