The Wright
County Fair
The water tower of Howard Lake’s historic district stood watch over the Wright County Fair July 24-28, 2019.
Located at the fairgrounds on Wright County Road 6 (north of
Highway 12) in Howard Lake, the Wright County Fair is a summer
tradition that draws a big crowd.
Each year, there’s an abundance of things to see and do all fi ve
days – lumberjack competitions, bull riding, mud-truck runs, BMX
bicycle shows, sheep riding, ukulele performances, pie-eating
contests, and more.
The pe ing zoo houses animals of all kinds, from bunnies and
deer, to kangaroos and ponies. 4-H barns showcase swine, poultry,
cows, goats, and many other animals. Horse competitions take
place daily.
In the grandstand, a endees can fi nd tractor pulls and
demolition derbies.
Free entertainment is available at the fair, including live music,
blacksmith demonstrations, and a talent show.
The midway, which has rides, paintball, and games, off ers deals
with an armband purchase multiple days of the fair. There is also
a child’s bicycle drawing each of the four days.
The Wright County Fair will return in July 22-26, 2020. A full
schedule of events and additional information is available at
www.wrightcountyfair.org.
Last year, kids were welcome to get in touch with their inner lumberjack,
participating in log rolling and sawing activities.
Tractors and other machines were displayed in several locations around the fair, with enough variety to satisfy even the
most enthusiastic of gear heads.
