When to sell your home for more
Have you noticed a property in your area that’s been for sale for some
time? After a while, the For Sale sign starts to lean over which sends a
message saying “I’m tired and uninteresting”.
My sympathies go out to sellers who sit around hoping for the right
buyer to materialise and pay their price. Constantly getting a home
ready for inspections and scheduled open house viewings is a lot of
work. But it gets worse.
Let me take you inside a hypothetical open house where the property
has been for sale for many months. Typically, at some point during the
open house, one or more buyers will ask the real estate professional
“How long has this home been for sale?” The agent will tell the buyer
when the home was first listed for sale. The buyer will respond; “Well
that’s a long time. Why is it taking so long? When do you think the
sellers will meet the market?”
