Someone once told me the secret to business success is to find out why
your clients hired you instead of your competition. This answer then
becomes your marketing platform, your point of difference or unique
selling proposition to include in your marketing.
So every time a property seller hired me to help them sell I would ask
this question. Sometimes I had to do a little “digging” to get to the real
reason, as a question like this can often put someone on the spot.
There were always competitors who would charge a lower fee than
me and many had vast resources or belonged to huge real estate
groups with awesome marketing power. It was fun to compete in this
environment because I could always show new clients how my system
could help them achieve a better selling price. But the answer to my
question never had anything to do with money.
