Traveling on a Budget
Discount Tickets
There are discount venue tickets at the USU’s information center. They offer day passes to Wild Water Adventure Park and tickets to Maya Cinemas. If you want to get out of town, there are 2 Day Park Hoppers to Disneyland, Day Passes to Six Flags Magic Mountain, and 12 month passes to Universal Studios for sale. Also look out for out-of-town bus trips hosted by the USU, such as the Ronald Reagan Museum visit that is taking place on October 1st.
Transit
Fresno State students can ride the FAX bus and the Bulldog Express Shuttle for free. Amtrak offers a 15% discount for students age 25 or younger. If you plan to drive yourself, consider setting up an account for the Fuel Rewards Network with Shell, which allows you to earn discounts on gas.
Overnight Stays
Do the smart thing and find a safe place to sleep when you’re out of town. Are hotels too expensive? Consider staying in a youth hostel. These are designed to provide lodging for students at a low price. Just remember to do your research on any place that you decide to stay. Student Universe is a travel website with a search engine to help you find the right accommodations for your travels
