Internships are positions (usually temporary) that function as on-the-job training for a field you want to work in. Sometimes you get paid, sometimes you don’t. The important thing is that you get work experience, job references, and networking opportunities. Internships also give you a look at what the people in your desired career do on a day-to-day basis. This is valuable insight that you can’t get inside of a classroom.
