St. Patrick's

This Thursday is St. Patrick’s Day! St. Patrick’s Day is not a legal holiday in the US, but it is still widely recognized to honor Irish Culture and Tradition. So why do we wear green? Ireland is commonly known as the Emerald Isle and it was said that St. Patrick used a green three leaf shamrock when preaching to the Irish. To honor the Saint’s work, we wear green! As for the pinching that was actually a tradition started by Americans back in the 1700s. If people did not wear green they would become visible to pinching leprechauns. Whether you celebrate St. Patrick’s Day or not, it is interesting to gain perspective on a diverse cultural history.
