To visit along the way
TORCELLO
The most important archaeological site
in Venice lagoon, Torcello was one of the
most ancient and prosperous settlements
in the lagoon, dating all the way back to
the Roman Empire.
BURANO MAZZORBO
Burano is one of the most spectacular is-
lands of Venice, famous for its lace and
its coloured houses. It is certainly one of
the most fascinating islands in the entire
lagoon.
SANT’ERASMO
The island has a lovely 8 km circular cycling
path for a peaceful, relaxing time in nature.
Sant’Erasmo used to be, and still is, Ven-
ice’s vegetable garden, where vegetables
are grown that are very popular at the Ri-
alto market.
MURANO
This magical island is famous for its glass
artworks made by generations of Murano
glass masters. You can’t miss a visit to Mu-
rano; we suggest you mooring at the Vi-
gnole island and take ACTV waterbus line
13 (5 min).
Venice
Rialto Bridge
This is the most famous of the bridges
straddling the Grand Canal. Elegant shops
and jewellers line its staircases.
Saint Mark’s Square
Chioggia
Chioggia’s fish market is a must-see for
tourists for its liveliness and wide variety
of products.
If you have bicycles, you need to ride to
Sottomarina, a peninsula famous for its
beaches and summer entertainment.
With its Basilica, Saint Mark’s Square is
known around the world for its architec-
tural beauty and integrity. The imposing
byzantine Basilica with its gold mosaics
and famous bronze horses definitely de-
serve a visit, as does the Doge’s Palace
and the Campanile where you can go to
the top for a breath-taking view of the city.
Wherever you go in Venice, you will dis-
cover churches, museums and palaces jam
packed with major works by artists from
every era.
Pellestrina
This is one of the prettiest cycling areas in
the entire Veneto. It has the lagoon on one
side and the open sea on the other, and
free beaches just steps away. It’s a peace-
ful and lovely island, home of fishermen
and good restaurants.
