Both people must be able to pilot the boat. The base staff may deny you use of the boat if they consider that the crew members do not have the necessary physical and men- tal conditions to be reasonably self-sufficient to pilot it. We recommend a crew of at least three people for complete and safe handling. These are locat- ed in three areas in critical parts of the lagoon where there are no other real alternatives. These areas are suitable for spending the night, and for leaving the boat for excursions on land. All of the mooring spots are just a short walk from ACTV waterbus stops and are linked to all lagoon waterbus routes. BICYCLES It is very convenient to have bicycles on board to get the most out of your holiday, stop for groceries and move about freely in one of Italy’s most cycle-friendly regions. Bicycles are available for rental at the base. DOLPHINS “Dolphins” (Briccole) are groups of wood or cement pilings that indicate navigable channels in the lagoons. Without dolphins, it would be impossible to distinguish shallow water from naviga- ble areas. Nautical maps indicate the position of the dolphins and the side of the channel on which they are located. It is important to be able to read the position of the dolphins on the map. Landing is allowed only on designated mooring areas. Nautical maps provided at the base will provide specific information. It’s forbidden to moor outside authorised docking areas, as much as anchoring in the middle of navigable canals. 19
