MALCONTENTA
Malcontenta is where you come to the first
drawbridge. You will need to call ahead to
have it opened.
Villa Foscari, also called La Malcontenta, is
the only villa on the Riviera designed by
Andrea Palladio in 1559, visible on the left
side going upstream.
MIRA
The historic centre of Mira is located on a
tiny island that is fully inhabited.
Villa Widmann Rezzonico Foscari is the
largest monument in town. You can visit
the inside, the barn and the park. At Villa
Valmarana, you can visit the barn with its
frescoed interiors as well as the Italian gar-
den. Villa Valmarana is located in one of
the prettiest and scenic bends in the Bren-
ta River.
DOLO
Dolo is a lovely little town, located in the
centre of the Riviera del Brenta. This is the
largest town at the halfway point on the
Riviera del Brenta and is worth visiting.
STRA
The town of Stra has ancient Roman ori-
gins as evidenced by many Venetian villas
including Villa Pisani Nazionale. Stra is also
known for its many renowned footwear
companies.
Villa Pisani Nazionale is considered the
“Queen of Venetian villas”.
Padua
According to the Aeneid, the city of Pad-
ua goes back to 1185 AC. It was called the
“capital of 14th-century painting, including
the cycle of frescoes by Giotto and the
Scrovegni Chapel, making it a crucial node
in the development of western art. The riv-
er becomes a magical place beneath the
eyes of the Winged Lion, the symbol of the
Republic.
The Pontifical Basilica of Saint Anthony of
Padua is one of the main places of Catholic
worship in the city of Padua. Known simply
as the Santo, it is one of the largest church-
es in the world and is visited annually by
over 6.5 million pilgrims.
