Chinese restaurant Tao is honoring its commitment to sourcing the finest seasonal
produce in the region to create memorable
and authentic dining experiences, with a
menu celebrating one of China's favourite autumnal delicacies, Hairy Crab, this
October 7 to 31.
Offering guests a true taste of freshwater
luxury, Tao has sourced the shellfish from
the banks of the Yang Cheng Lake near
Shanghai - the most famous area of origin for the Chinese crustaceans, which are
considered to be amongst the most prized
ingredients of traditional Chinese cuisine.
The Hairy Crab menu will be available
from October 7 to 31 with prices starting from RM148++ for one traditional
steamed Hairy Crab off the a la carte
menu. Alternatively, a set lunch menu costs
of RM178++ per person for a menu of
Traditional Steamed Hairy Crab, Poached
Vermicelli with Garoupa and Chilled Lime
with Lemongrass Jelly.
A set dinner menu is RM268++ per person
and consists of a Hairy Crab Combination
(Chilled Hairy Crab Salad with Avocado,
Fried Hairy Crab and Scallop Almond
and Spicy Ginger Sauce), Traditional
Steamed Hairy Crab, Steamed Fois Gras
Chawanmushi, Poached Vermicelli with
Garoupa and Chilled Lime with Lemongrass
Jelly.
Tao is designed to bring guests authentic
and memorable dining experiences through
the revival of traditional cooking techniques
and exceptional menu items.

"As well as the crab meat itself, Hairy Crab
roe is a versatile and intriguing ingredient
which will be incorporated into the menu at
Tao, giving guests exciting dishes on a menu
unparalleled in Kuala Lumpur," he added.
"Tao", which means peach in Mandarin,
is decorated graciously with the bloom of
the pale pink peach flower and features
hundreds of ornate Chinese teapots collected from around Asia and are displayed
for diners to enjoy, inspect and purchase
should they wish.
The Hairy Crab menu will feature a blend of
traditional and modern flavours and cooking techniques and include classic dishes
such as the traditional steamed Hairy Crab
with ginger and vinegar dressing, utilising
time-honoured method to ensure less wok
cooking to ensure freshness and the original
sweetness of the crabmeat.
The restaurant houses six private rooms all
named after the dynasties in China - Han,
Song, Tang, Yuan, Ming, and Qin, and is
open seven days a week, serving a la carte
lunch from noon to 2:30pm and dinner
from 6:30pm to 10:30pm.
