SPREAD ITS WINGS TO PONTIANAK
Pontianak is the capital of West Kalimantan and also known as the
‘equator city’ because it is passed by the latitude line that divides
the planet into the north and the south. The economic strength of
this city is mainly supported by industrial sector, trade sector and
agricultural sector. Tourism sector also plays an important role since
Pontianak is the home of several ethnic groups namely Melayu,
Dayak and Chinese, and each ethnic group often hold their traditional activities annually. Culinary riches also play an important
role in the tourism sector. So, the city is really suitable for either
business or leisure travellers.
That brief description about Pontianak managed to attract Dafam
Hotels to set foot in the city and cooperate with local investor under
PT. Garuda Mega Persada. On Thursday, 5 September 2013, taken
place in Nusantara 2 room of Hotel Garuda Pontianak, a management agreement was signed between PT. Dafam Hotel Management
represented by Andhy Irawan as the Managing Director, and PT.
Garuda Mega Persada represented by Dondy Khouw also as the
Managing Director. Andhy Irawan was accompanied by Handono
S. Putro as the Director of Business Development and Operation of
Dafam Hotels.
Dafam Hotels’ four-star brand is selected to be the hotel’s brand
and called Grand Dafam Garuda Pontianak. The hotel occupies a
total of 4000 square meters area including extra area for parking

space separated from hotel building approximately 1000 square
meters. The hotel itself consists of 12 floors and 168 rooms divided
into 136 deluxe rooms, 18 executive rooms, 10 executive balcony
rooms, 2 junior suites and 2 royal suites. Other facilities are restaurant, lobby lounge and meeting room. The hotel will carry the concept of premium class ‘business MICE hotel’. The ‘ground-breaking’
of the hotel will be conducted approximately 1,5 month after the
agreement signing, and the construction is planned to finish 15
months after ‘ground-breaking’.

to five-star level hotels while also putting forward the local cultural
