The hotel, which features Savoir beds and a personal butler service, as well as staff who outnumber guests two to one, also celebrated placing sixth in Europe and 15th in the world. The Hydro Hotel in Bowness on Windermere, Cumbria, has been brought on the property market off a guide price of £2.5m. The former manor house features 78 en-suite bedrooms, a restaurant and well-furnished grand public areas. The property also has conference and meeting rooms, suitable for weddings and business seminars and leisure facilities including a heated indoor swimming pool and substantial staff accommodation. Julian Troup, head of UK hotels agency at Colliers International, said: “We are delighted to bring the Hydro Hotel to the market. It is an established and well-known hotel operating with a healthy trading base. “Our instructions were that it should be “priced to sell” and consequently we are anticipating a favourable response to the marketing, particularly bearing in mind it is so rare to see a substantial Lakeland hotel with panoramic views coming to the open market.” He added: “The hotel was acquired by the current owners in 2015 and has been the subject of a circa £1,700,000 refurbishment to most of the public areas and a substantial number of the “lake view” bedrooms.” Hotel 41 named top UK hotel third year in row by TripAdvisor For the second year running, Devon’s Tavistock House Hotel has been awarded best small hotel in the UK, with the Elm Tree Hotel in Llandudno named as both the UK’s most romantic and best for a bargain. Premier Inn London City (Aldgate) Hotel took the top spot for best for families, and the best service award was given to the Lawton & Lauriston Court Hotel in Llandudno. A statement by the group read: “Travellers’ Choice awards take into account the quality and quantity of traveller reviews and opinions specific to each award category. The hallmarks of Travellers’ Choice winners are remarkable service, quality and value.” We’ve been exploring opportunities to invest in Paddington for some time now and are very excited at the prospect of gaining a presence for Premier Inn there Jonathan Langdon, acquisition manager Central London, Whitbread 12 www.hotelowner.co.uk 2 Hydro Hotel in the Lake District brought to market for £2.5m Editorial Correction In the December 2018 issue of Hotel Owner, on page 12, the wrong image was used for the story on the relaunch of Grosvenor Hotel as the new Amba Hotel Victoria.
