B etween the 11th and 12th centu-
ries, the Cathedral saw itself pillaged
and left to decay in the aftermath.
To add insult to injury, during the
16th century, in trying to unite both
the Polish catholic church with the
Ukraine orthodox church, the church
suffered extensive damage to her fin-
ishes, artwork and roof. Between the
16th and 17th centuries, repairs and
restorations took place that saved
the church from her disintegration.
The final product saw it’s rebirth in
Ukrainian Baroque influences, some-
thing that is clear centuries later. It’s a
place well worth your time.
