Hey , no one wants to be at the back of the line . So , in today ’ s world of communicating , technology better be your best friend , not something you “ have ” to do .
With a blizzard of emails , texts , calls , lost files , found files , file is too large , IP addresses , server not found , update password , update your OS , update your spouse , ( oops wrong file ), back-up , back-up , back-up . Gosh , how is a person supposed to get anything done if they want you to back-up instead of going forward ?
OK , you get the idea . Some get overwhelmed by all the “ background noise ” that seems to follow the need to be up on using technology and our computer systems . The fact is , it is necessary . It ’ s part of being efficient in our work environment today .
If we are real about what we have to do today to keep our systems running safely truth is it ’ s much easier today than just a few years ago . Yes , we have to be vigilant since there are creeps around every corner hoping to infect our systems , laptops , desktops , tablets and phones , but there is help and best practices . Following some simple steps will leave you the time to concentrate on your outdoor writing and activities . Afterall , those are the things you love , and want to do .
OK , so by this point you get the idea we are going to go over some tips for better and safer computing . I thought this would be a good place to start for my first , ahh … column , chat , rant , what have you , to help contribute to the betterment of all .
When asked to write this , Dave Barus suggested , photography , videography , cinematography , video editing , and I ’ ll add , holography , virtual reality , landscape imagining , slow-TV ( yeah that ’ s a new one for you ), forensic video applications and , OH YES , my greatest specialty , Verbal Tsunami . My wife calls that just talking too much . I see it as staying informed and ,
