SECTION ONE
MAKE THE MOST OF THE NETWORK.
We have an absolutely amazing network of
diverse members. Tourism directors that can
help you plan a media trip. Manufacturers
that can show you the newest, and most
innovative outdoor gear on the market.
And government non-prof it agencies with
amazing stories that need to be told. Take
advantage of it. As much as I love seeing my
industry friends, I make an effort to f ind
every new face an introduce myself. And the
networking can be just as benef icial for the
corporate members. I’ve made connections
that have garnered many mutually benef icial
partnerships and alliances.
COLLECT BUSINESS CARDS.
Don’t just bring lots of business cards, collect
them, as well. Even after nine conferences
I still manage to come home with a pile of
business cards. If you have a little down
time each night, or the next morning, and
your memory is not as good as it used to be,
(like mine), it can’t hurt to write a few notes
on each business card to document any key
information, or that person’s role within an
organization.
The annual AGLOW conference is for the
benef it of ALL members. But make it your
own and it can be a fun and productive
experience. It has helped me grow personally
and professionally, as I take away someone
new every year. Don’t miss it… I hope to see
you in North Dakota!
