Examine the inside of the mouth and pharynx taking the caudal pharynx for formalin- fixation. The entire tract from the oesophagus to the rectum should be stored in 10% ethanol to evaluate parasites, making sure that the volume of tissue:ethanol exceeds 1:5. Small samples of stomach, duodenum, jejunem, ileum and colon for pathology can be removed for pathology evaluation by Prof Jansen when the studies are complete. Take samples from the dorsal and cranioventral portions of each lung on both sides of the chest; as well as a sample in an Eppendorf tube (100% ethanol) for Dr Bastos. Open the trachea and note if it contains foam or fluid. Take a sample of trachea. Next remove the heart. Open all 4 chambers of the heart. Store blood, if available,
