A ward for O utstanding A ccounting G raduate
The Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants’ Award for
Outstanding Accounting Graduate is given to the graduating student who has
demonstrated exceptional academic progress and who has demonstrated interest
in pursuing a career in public accounting.
Recipients: Alyson Sharkey and Nicholas Sowden
Alyson Sharkey
Bachelor of Science in Accounting
Alyson Sharkey is graduating with an
impressive 4.0 GPA. She is a member of
GMercyU’s chapter of Sigma Beta Delta,
the international honor society for business,
management, and administration.
In addition to academic accomplishments,
Alyson has given back to the GMercyU
community. She has served on the School of
Business Student Advisory Board and was
a member of the schools IACBE student
Business Competition that finished second
in the regional competition.
Alyson was also a member of the track team where she has competed in sprints,
hurdles, high jump, pole vault, and long jump. She has served on several panel
discussions for the University’s annual PICPA high school symposium on
accounting careers and was a Griffin Ambassador.
Alyson interned at Herbein + Company, Public Accounting Firm and upon
graduation will begin a position with the accounting firm Kreisher-Miller as a
staff accountant.
