Spring is upon us! As the ground thaws and tulips flourish,
the renovation on the exterior of our home commences! The
big question is where to start? There is so much to do and so
little time to enjoy the sunshine.
As I sip my cup of coffee (yes, I’ve joined the dark side and
traded my chai for coffee since Ella was born), I admire all the
hard work that it took the previous homeowners to maintain
the large vegetable and flower gardens in our backyard. Yes,
that’s not a typo, it’s garden pluralized! My backyard is split up
into multiple gardens filled with fruit trees, raspberry bushes,
flower bushes and dirt galore to plant annuals!
I’m somewhat at a loss as I don’t like a lot of grass to mow
let alone flower beds to weed. Isn’t it enough to upkeep
our cottage property without having to tend to an amateur
gardener’s nightmare at home? As you can see, my strengths
lie within the interior design sector, not exterior. I am lucky to
have a wife with a green thumb (with the exception of indoor
plants!) who loves to garden! I’m sure to find her spending
time in our backyard with our daughter Ella who will be one
year old this summer.

As Mandy tackles our gardens, I’ll be busy with the exterior
makeover of our home. With years of talking about the
importance of curb appeal, I must practice what I’ve preached
and chop down a tree that hides the existence of our home. I
will then work on landscaping, adding shrubs, a pathway and
re-finishing the exterior of our home.
As our home renovations and landscaping projects progress,
I look forward to hosting lavish parties in our gardens.
