What do you think is the most important benefit of
using a professional stager?
The biggest benefit to using a professional is that your home
is stunning to view even in a small MLS photo. This is where
the initial showing takes place and your buyers decide if they
are interested in a viewing. Professional staging really sets you
apart from other listings.
It is very difficult to be objective in your own space. As
a professional home stager, I can envision every space
differently to ensure it has a focal point to draw attention to
a specific feature, as well as the best flow to draw a potential
buyer’s eye across the room so it appears more spacious. I
can’t tell you how many times my clients have walked into
their newly staged home saying, “Wow, I never thought of
setting up the room this way. I love it!”
When viewing a home, what rooms will have the
biggest impact on a potential buyer’s decision?
The kitchen is the hardest space to renovate and the most
intimidating for buyers to tackle. If your kitchen has been
updated in the last 5 years, you stand a better chance at
selling than a comparable listing with an older kitchen. Buyers
want modern kitchens like they see in magazines and they will
pay for it!
What are three things that will make the most impact
in a kitchen?
The three biggest impacts are cabinetry, appliances and
flooring. However, doing only that and not addressing
other issues will not be helpful. For example, gorgeous new
counters on top of old cabinets is a waste of money. To make
sure your choices are going to be ones that buyers will love,
consult with a professional stager prior to renovating.
How would you describe your personal design style?
I am a traditionalist at heart. However, I have really grown to
love fabulous contemporary styles, so now I combine the
two together. It really creates a warm and inviting space while
being fresh and current.
When viewing a home, what rooms will have the
biggest impact on a potential buyer’s decision?
Definitely the kitchen, great room, and master bedroom will
have the biggest impact on potential buyers. We all know
that the kitchen and great room is where life happens. It is the
hub of any home. The master bedroom is also crucial since
whoever is buying the home will be the one retreating to this
sanctuary every night.
