private events and with two separate locations (a sister location in Allen- town), Fegley’s has a lot to offer. If onion soup isn’t what you crave, Blue is another option on your plate. With a selection of raw bar items, steaks, flatbreads and entrees that in- clude Prime Berkshire Pork Chops and Pan Seared Duck Breast it’s hard to make a decision. We recommend the Lobster Bisque for something warm- ing and delicious. The lobster bisque uses Maine lobster, cream and sherry. You can enjoy the bisque in their beautifully decorated restaurant featur- ing oceanic style blown glass decor and cozy booth seating. If you’re lucky enough to visit in the summer, their outdoor patio has a stone wall back- drop at the bar, beautiful timber rafters and a roaring enclosed fireplace. FEGLEY’S BREW WORKS STOUT ONION SOUP Craving an Irish Pub stew, we thought so. Try McCarthy’s Red Stag Pub and Whiskey Bar at 534 Main Street. They’re an Irish Pub that serves tra- ditional U.K fare on their menu which includes cottage pie, bangers and mash and fish n’ chips. One of their most tasty options is their Guinness Lamb Stew, “a hearty lamb stew with root vegetables and barley served with Irish soda bread.” McCarthy’s also has monthly whiskey tasting events for those that enjoy a single malt, single pot or blended whiskeys. They feature American and Irish whiskeys as well as selections from Japan and house-made whiskeys. McCarthy’s not only has a vibrant menu and whiskey selection, but also has a Patty-O Doggie Plates menu. Although you won’t be able to take advantage of it during your December trip, you can pencil it in on your calendar as the weather gets warmer. They even offer dishes like hamburger patties with white rice and plain grilled chick- en with rice for your pup! Whether its December or June, with a bit of suggestion and guidance on the varying options of Bethlehem’s bars and restaurants, you can enjoy all that Bethlehem provides. This winter, take a horse drawn carriage ride, enjoy the Christkindlmarket, buy a few gifts and sip a drink or a steaming soup to keep warm. You can’t go wrong in the Christmas City. 29 homeandtablemagazine.com | HOLIDAY GUIDE 2017
