These whimsical trees will make any Grinch smile! They can be found in many floral shops, but you can easily make your own for a fraction of the cost. Here’s how:
Choose your plant; Cypress are available in many sizes so are suitable for tabletop planters or larger floor designs. Choose your pot, colourful is best, and drainage is beneficial. Pop your cypress into your planter.
Shape the tree with wire. Secure wire to tree stalk at base, then loosely wind around and around to lightly compact branches. Wire until you reach the top, leaving an extra couple of inches with which to attach an ornament. From this wire hang a medium/heavy weight ball ornament; the weight of the ornament will gently bend the tree giving it a Whoville shape.
Next, secure ribbon at base of tree (1/4” is best for smaller trees, 1/2” for larger). Evenly wind ribbon around the tree until you reach the top, and secure with a small piece of wire.
