It's been one year since launching Hitch Fit Living
magazine. I can't believe how fast time flies! Over the past
year we've seen some really remarkable transformations.
These are people with busy lives, kids, jobs, obstacles to
overcome, changes to be made, challenges to be met, who
have one thing in common, they were motivated to start
making healthy choices and habits a part of their lifestyle.
This got me thinking about motivation. One question I
am asked frequently is how to become motivated, and
how to stay motivated. My response to that is that we are
always motivated. It's just a matter of what we are
motivated to do! We aren't lacking motivation. We are
either more motivated to make a healthy choice or more
motivated to make an unhealthy choice.
When motivation is higher to make the healthy choice, that's when transformation can take place and
healthy habits can be established. Once those habits are in place, making healthy choices becomes part
of who you are and what you do. That's when it's a lifestyle. That's a place of freedom. That's when
eating well and exercising regularly aren't sacrifices, they are what you desire to do.
If you're not at that place just yet, how do you get there? One way to shift motivation towards the
positive is by setting goals for yourself. Review where you are and where you want to be. Write out
those goals. Keep reminders of those goals around you on a daily basis. That could mean pictures that
motivate you or quotes that empower you. Take things one day at a time. Make choices even on days
you don't "feel" like it. This is a quote that I think sums things up perfectly:
"Don't give up what you MOST in life for what you think you want NOW."
