High Intensity Interval Training, or HIIT training, has been rising in
popularity and it’s easy to see why. In our fast paced world, the idea of being
able to maximize fat and calorie burn in a short amount of time is very
appealing to many. For me, I love that in less time I can still burn optimal
calories and can do it anywhere, at home or on the go, with a stopwatch being
my only equipment. HIIT cardio can of course be done on many pieces of gym
equipment or outside. But what do you do when you need a good cardio burn
but the weather is less than ideal and you can’t get to a gym and crank up my
favorite music, get out my phone or computer for a stop watch and do the
following routine:
Start with a 5 min Warm Up of your choice.
30 sec - Sprint in place (as fast as you can, pumping your arms)
60 sec - Jog in place
30 sec - Jump Rope (use a pretend rope, you don’t need a real one)
60 sec - Jog in place
30 sec - Football drill (legs slightly farther than shoulder width apart, body
crouched down until elbows are almost touching knees, balance on your toes
with quick little movements alternate tapping toes)
