A Tale of Two Cindy's by Diana Chaloux - LaCerte Hitch Fit Kid Sydney Knoche This is the tale of two girls named Cindy. Cindy A and Cindy B live in the same town, they go to the same school and are in the same grade. Cindy A and Cindy B are the same age and the same height they even have the same color hair! These two girls seem to have a lot in common, but when we take a closer look we will see that even though these two girls seem alike on the outside, they are very different on the inside. Cindy A has a lot of energy. During recess at school she loves to run around the school yard and play games with all of her classmates. She is happy and she is healthy. Cindy A is constantly moving. Her body, her heart and her lungs are all very strong and in good shape. Cindy A is a confident girl, and she is at a healthy weight. This is a girl who is in a great mood most of the time, has tons of energy all through the day and sleeps well through the night. Cindy B doesn’t have a lot of energy. She wakes up groggy and is tired throughout the day. She has a hard time paying attention during class. Cindy B doesn’t feel like doing much at recess or after school because she is tired. Her free time is spent sitting and watching television or playing on the computer. Cindy B doesn’t have a lot of confidence, her muscles are not strong and her weight is steadily increasing. Cindy B knows that she needs to exercise and move her body, but she just doesn’t have the energy to do it! Why is there such a big difference in how these two girls feel? The answer is fuel. Now I know you are saying. Isn’t fuel what you fill your car up with? Yes, that is true, but our bodies operate in much the same way as a car. Food acts as the fuel for our bodies, and if we don’t provide our bodies with the right types and amounts of fuel, our bodies will not be able to run properly! The foods that you eat throughout the day affect so many things including your weight, the mood that you are in, your energy levels and even how well you sleep at night. Cindy A starts her day off with breakfast every morning. Throughout the day Cindy A chooses foods that will keep her full of energy. She loves to eat fruits and vegetables, not only do they taste good they also provide her body with valuable nutrients. Cindy A’s mom knows how important healthy eating is in order for Cindy to stay strong, healthy and full of energy so she keeps the house stocked with healthy food options. Whole grains, dairy like milk and cheese that provides calcium for strong bones, lean meats, fruits and veggies are a few of the common items at Cindy A's house. She also drinks water throughout the day so her body stays hydrated. Cindy A loves to have special treats such as candy, chips or ice cream, but she doesn’t eat these things every day, instead they are for sp X
