Use this to try and identify the roots of emotional issues at play and the current triggers that
send you down the road of negative self-talk. Use your awareness to continually “catch”
yourself earlier in the self-talk cycle and redirect your thoughts and activities before it even
starts. Record what works in that redirecting to positive self-talk.
2. Have A Solid Support System: Use whatever works for you: inspirational books,
affirmations, close and supportive relationships, online forums, formal support groups, life
coaching, and/or personal counseling. Social support is key to any life change, and it can be
incredibly motivating and helpful during any emotional or psychological issues.
3. Differentiate Between Self-Soothing and Self-Care: Finding yourself in front of
the refrigerator binge eating because emotional issues have taken over and are too much to
handle, this is self-soothing. Instead, look for activities that comfort but do not destroy what
you have worked hard to build. This is the difference between self-soothing and self-care.
The road to successful transformation is not just physical changes, but mental changes as
well. The process sometimes calls for not just the shedding of pounds, but also the shedding
of emotional and psychological issues as well. When the emotional transformation gets
tough, and it will, use some of these tips to help stay on the right track to not only a
successful physical, but a psychological and emotional transformation as well.
4. Focus on being the best version of YOU: Everyone’s body is different. Your body
will never look exactly like that of someone else, because it is uniquely yours. Use the
transformations of others for motivation, but avoid comparing yourself to them or being
hyper critical of your body. Comparison is a joy stealer. It can lead to frustration and
depression. Avoid it, stay focused on the positive things and be grateful for the amazing body
that is yours and yours alone.
