We ’ re into the festive madness run-in to the end of the year and as usual it is a time of joy , hope and celebration . Alas , it is also a time when our ethical values are sometimes severely tested . Trends have indicated that unethical behaviour and practices always increase during this time of the year . Incidents of theft , bribery , corruption and general bad business practice seem to find easier traction this time of the year . Which is why we ’ d like to remind you of Hinterland ’ s ethical values and ask you to remain true to the values which have shaped our company culture .
The Hinterland values form the foundation of our code of ethics .

The Hinterland management team have signed the Hinterland code of ethics which pledges their allegiance to uphold the principles of the code . The full code of ethics is available on the intranet and all personnel are required to sign it . Early in the new year members of the management team and ethics committee will embark on a branch tour to promote the Hinterland Code of Ethics to create more awareness of the Ethics Values .
We remind all staff to report unethical behaviour immediately . Inform your immediate superior , or contact any member of the management team who will ensure that the matter receives the attention it deserves !
We ’ d like you to participate in the ethics campaign by voting on ideas for a Hinterland ethics mascot , which will be announced soon . However , if you have any ideas for a mascot and a suitable name for the mascot , please send them to Marlene Momberg at marlene . momberg @ hinterland . co . za .
The mascot should reflect our business and values , it should also be approachable and engaging . Staff should be able to relate to the mascot and feel comfortable that it represents our brand and passion . If your naming suggestion is chosen for the mascot , you will receive a surprise gift for your trouble , so hurry up and send it already !

As you can see we have only been able to download two photos from the Intranet of our new recruits . This serves as a reminder for all staff to upload recent photos of themselves onto the Intranet . It is vitally important for identification purposes . Just follow these easy steps to upload your photo , or even update an existing photo .
