You give the attention, the love, the admiration
that I keep trying to get and am daily disap-
pointed aboutnot receiving.
Zephaniah 3:17 “The LORD your God is in
your midst,
a mighty one who will save;
he will rejoice over you with gladness;
he will quiet you by his love;
he will exult over you with loud singing.”
You are the rest and relief that I hope to feel by
the completion of tasks on my to-do list.
Psalm 127:2 “In vain you rise early
and stay up late,
toiling for food to eat-
for he grants sleep to those he loves.”
You are the salvation and refuge that I falsely
imagine I could get from running from my prob-
lems and my responsibilities.
Isaiah 12:2 “Surely God is my salvation;
I will trust and not be afraid.
The Lord, the Lord himself, is my
strength and my defense;
he has become my salvation.”
Your Spirit is the living water to quench my
thirst.
John 7:37-38 “On the last and greatest day
of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud
voice, ‘Let anyone who is thirsty comes to
me and drink. Whoever believes in me as
Scripture has said, rivers of living water
will flow from within them.’”
You are the bread of life to satisfy the hunger of
my soul.
John 6:35 “Then Jesus declared, ‘I am the
bread of life. Whoever comes to me will
never go hungry,
and whoever believes in me will never be
thirsty.”
You are my everything.
Psalm 73:25 “Whom have I in heaven but
you?
And earth has nothing I desire besides you.”
It is in your unfailing love that I put my hope
today.
Renew my strength Lord.
Isaiah 40:31 “but those who hope in the
Lord will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.”
