Pralognan, Vanoise (page 44) Canourgue, Cevennes to Provence (page 52)
Meeting at your hotel in Pralognan. Train: From the UK, Eurostar and the TGV provide a
relaxing journey from London to Lyon Part Dieu direct and changing at Lille or Paris. Local
services then run to Moutiers via Chambery. There are bus services running from Mouti-
ers to Pralognan la Vanoise on certain days, otherwise a taxi costs about 50 euros.
Flights: There are scheduled flights to Geneva, Turin, Lyon, Chambery and Grenoble.
Lyon, Geneva and Turin have the most regular services. The airlines Easy jet and British
Airways have scheduled flights from the UK - Luton, Edinburgh and Heathrow - to Lyon St
Exupery airport. All have rail links with Modane via Chambery. Make your own way to Canourgue. Train to Banassac-La-Canourgue station on line
Paris—Clermont-Ferrand—Beziers. Station is outside village. Transfers to accommo-
dation can be booked via us. At the end of holiday, take regular bus service from
Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert to Montpellier. Main line train line to major cities. Flight

Tour of Viso (page 44) By Ferry: Brittany Ferries run from Portsmouth and Condor Ferries from Wey-
mouth and Poole. Train: Eurostar and the TGV run trains from London to Paris
where you can change and take a train to St Malo. Flights: Ryan Air run flights to
Dinard from East Midlands. Short taxi journey to St Malo. Transfer at end of holiday
to Lamballe train station at end of holiday.

Braies, Dolomites: Tyrolean Explorer (page 45)
Arrive direct at Braies by car or if arriving by train, pick up from Dobbiaco train station.
There are night trains from Paris to Fortezza, changing in Verona. Trains also go via
Milan. You will then need to catch a train from Fortezza to Dobbiaco (50km). Tickets for
the night train can be bought on-line in advance, whilst the local train service can be
bought at the station in Fortezza. Also possible to combine holiday with a trip to Venice.
Dronero, Italy’s Piedmont: Val Maira (page 45)
Make your own way to first hotel in Dronero. By train: Take train from Nice to Cunéo or
from Paris to Milan via Turin. Local train Turin to Cunéo. Then regular bus service from

Souillac, Dordogne (page 46)
Eurostar & local ter trains run services from London St Pancras to Souillac. Change at
Paris, direction Toulouse. Some trains (Teoz) are direct & some need a further change via
Brive la Gaillarde. Flights: Ryan Air & Flybe have scheduled flights from several UK air-
ports to Bergerac. Taxi or hire car for the short transfer. A greater choice of operators fly
to Toulouse from where there is a shuttle bus to Toulouse train station.
Brive-la-Gaillard, Correze (page 46)
Eurostar & local ter trains run services from London St Pancras to Brive-la-Gaillard.
Change at Paris, direction Toulouse. Flights: Several operators have scheduled flights
from several UK airports to Bergerac and Limoges. Taxi or hire car for the transfer. A
greater choice of operators fly to Toulouse from where there is a shuttle bus to Toulouse
train station.
Figeac, Lot (page 47)
Eurostar & local ter trains run services from London St Pancras to Figeac. Change at
Paris, direction Cerbere & then change at Brive or cahors for Figeac. Flights: Ryan Air &

change in Paris and take TGV to Dole and then TER bus to Lons le Saunier or TGV to Lyon

Meeting at your hotel in Eguisheim. Flights: Airport Strasbourg Entzheim: at 50 min. City
jet fly to Stasbourg from London City Airport. Car hire from airport. Train: Eurostar and

A car is necessary to get to the walks for this holiday. Hire cars from Clermont Ferrand

airport is Bristol. Possible to get airport bus to Weston (A3). Service runs hourly
and journey takes an hour. Taxi from airport, about 15miles (24km) from Weston.
From Glastonbury (West Mendip Explorer): Train: transfer to Castle Cary
station for trains to London included in holiday price. Transfers towards other sta-
tions are also possible for supplement. Coach: National coach services run from
Glastonbury to London. From Frome (The Mendip Way): Train: station in Frome
for services on both the Reading to Taunton line and Bristol to Weymouth route.
Coach: National coaches run a service to London.
North Cornwall (page 58)
To Bude: Train journey from London Paddington or Waterloo to Exeter. Bus ser-
vices between Exeter and Bude run by Stagecoach (6 & 6A). The bus journey takes
about 2hrs, train from London Paddington to Exeter St Davids takes 2 hours. From
Padstow: Bus service between Padstow & Bodmin Parkway station - 50mins - run
by Plymouth City Bus (11A). Trains from Bodmin Parkway to London Paddington
about 4hrs (some requiring change of trains). From Newquay train station jour-
neys to London take 5 hours, with changes at Par and sometimes at Plymouth.
South Cornwall (page 58)
To Falmouth: Train: Great Western operate services from London Paddington,
South Wales & Cotswolds. Arriva Trains operate services from the Midlands, the
North & Scotland. You need to change at Truro and take Maritime Line, twice hourly
service. Coach: National Express serves Falmouth from throughout UK. By air:
Newquay Airport is closest with car hire available through Europcar & Hertz. Ferry:
Plymouth is the closest. Brittany Ferries offer services from Roscoff and Santander
into Plymouth.
From Plymouth: Train: Travel from London 4hrs 30mins & from Manchester 5hrs
15mins. Coach: National Express London Victoria to Plymouth is about 5hrs. By
air: Bristol airport about 2hrs by car or 2hrs 50mins by Stagecoach. Exeter airport
is about hour by car or 2hrs 10mins by National Express. Newquay airport about an
hour by car & reached by train with taxi from Newquay to airport. Ferry: As above
Salisbury, Wiltshire (Wonders of Wessex) (page 59)
Train: Salisbury served by main line station. Routes from London are via Waterloo
station & take about 1hr 30min. Bus: National Express operate services to Salis-
bury from throughout the UK including London. Advance ticketing is required.
Flights: 3 local airports with international flights: Bournemouth & Southampton are
about 30 minutes away, Bristol about an hour away. Main London airports are
between 1hr 30 and 2 hrs. Return to Salisbury: Regular bus services from
Shaftesbury to Salisbury with Salisbury Reds (27 & 29). Journey about 1hr 15min.
Cranborne Chase (page 59)
To and from Ludwell/Farnham/Cranborne: transfer to/from train stations at
Warminster, Castle Cary or Gillingham included in price. Or transfers from National
Express stop at Wincanton. Flights: Location is about 1hr 30mins from Bristol
Airport, Bournemouth about an hour and London Airports 2 to 3hrs away.
Dorchester, Dorset: (page 60)
By Train: Regular trains from London Waterloo (3hrs). By Coach: National Express
run 1 direct service from London Victoria per day (3 to 4 hrs). By Air: Bristol is
about 1.5 hours drive. Exeter and Bournemouth International Airport are approx
1hr drive. By Car: If planning to arrive by car please contact to arrange parking.
Lyme Regis, Dorset coast (page 60)
To Lyme Regis. Train & bus: Train from London Waterloo station to Axminster
about 2hr 40min. From Axminster take bus X53 or X51 to Lyme Regis. To return
from Lulworth: Take X54 to Wool to catch a train direct to London Waterloo. If you
are returning to Lyme Regis, take the train from Wool to Dorchester and then bus
direct to Lyme Regis or in the summer, take the Jurassic Coast buses to Lyme (may
need to change at Weymouth). To return from Corfe Castle or Swanage: Take
bus (40) to Wareham to catch train to London Waterloo. If returning to Lyme to
collect car, catch X54 Jurassic Coast bus at Wareham (change at Weymouth).
