on page 27) have pick-ups from Lyon train stations and airport included in the

flights from the UK - Luton, Gatwick, Heathrow & Edinburgh - to Lyon St Exupery
airport. Flybe also has a number of regular flights from UK airports including Bir-
mingham. Air France & KLM flights via Paris or Amsterdam. Train: Eurostar and the
TGV run trains from London to Lyon Part Dieu direct and changing at Lille or Paris. Azun: meet at hotel in Arras or at train station in Argeles Gazost. Traverse of Pyre-

Les Alpilles: Van Gogh’s Provence (page 28)

Collioure, Pyrenees coast (page 30)
Meeting at your first hotel. Train: Changes between the Eurostar and TGV are at
Lille or Paris. TGV's run from Paris to Perpignan. The TGV via Lille will require anoth-
er change at Lyon. The local trains from Perpignan only take about a further 20
minutes to Collioure. Flights: Flights from French and UK airports to Perpignan-
Rivesaltes airport. Operators from UK include Flybe and Ryan Air. The airport is
about 35km from Collioure. Take a transfer to Perpignan city about 7km away and
then take a local TER train to Collioure.
Costa Brava, Spain (page 30)
Transfer from Portbou train station to Cadaques at start of holiday and at end back
to Cadaques or to Girona station. Changes between the Eurostar and TGV are at
Lille, Paris or Lyon. TGV's go via Montpellier to Perpignan or Figueres from where
local trains access Portbou. Flights to French cities of Perpignan, Beziers & Toulouse,
plus Spanish cities of Barcelona or Girona. Regular trains from Barcelona Sants and
Giron to Portbou.

Transfer from Carpentras to Montbrun les Bains included in holiday price. Train &
bus: TGV trains run from Paris and Lyon to Avignon. At Avignon, take the bus on
line 5.1 to Carpentras, which takes about 50mins or take a local train service.
Flights: The closest airport is Avignon. Regular flights from a number of UK airports
as well as French airports. Flybe has services from Exeter, Southampton, Birming-

French Fjords: Calanques National Park (page 32)
Pick ups from Marseille station included in price. Train: Eurostar and the TGV run
trains from London to Marseille changing at Lille or Paris.
Fly to Marseille Marignane. There are regular flights from Bristol, Edinburgh, London
Stansted and London Gatwick. Shuttle bus every 20 minutes between 6.30am and
8.50 p.m. for the station SNCF Marseille Saint-Charles. Journey time: about 25
minutes. Or extra charge of £25 each way from Marseille airport.

Meeting at your guest house in Crest. Train & bus: TGV trains run from Paris and
Lyon to Valence TGV. Shuttle bus or local train to Valence Ville. Regular regional
TER trains from Valence Ville to Crest (direction Die & Gap). Return from Nyons by
bus, line 36 to Montelimar (operated by TER) & take return TGV or TER trains.

Short transfer from train station Latour de Carol. Train: Changes between the Euro-

from Toulouse to Latour de Carol. Flights: There are flights from French and UK
airports to Toulouse airport. Operators from UK airports include Flybe, British Airways
and Easy jet. A shuttle bus will take you to the city centre in about 20 minutes, where
you can access the train station.
Make own way to and from holiday. Eurostar and the TGV run trains from London to
Lyon Part Dieu direct and changing at Lille or Paris. Regular trains to Montelimar
(operated by TER) & then bus to Nyons, line 36. For the return journey from Laragne
Monteglin either take a direct TER train to Marseille Saint Charles and take a TGV
train from there to connect with your Eurostar, or go via Gap by TER to Valence and
onwards to Lyon. Flights: The closest airports are Lyon St Exupery, Avignon & Mar-
seille.
Alpine Provence: Part 2 - Haute Provence Geological Reserve (page 36)
Make own way to and from holiday. Starts in Sisteron. Eurostar and the TGV run
trains from London to Lyon Part Dieu direct and changing at Lille or Paris. Either take
a TGV to Marseille and then TER train to Sisteron or trains via Valence & Gap. Return
journey from Digne les Bains take train des Pignes to Nice. TGV trains to connect with
Marseille, Lyon and Paris. The closest airports are Nice, Avignon and Marseille. Trains
from Nice to Sisteron at start of trip go via Marseille. Best option is to fly into Mar-
seille and out of Nice.
Queyras self-guided tour & centre-based (pages 37)
Transfer from Mont Dauphin - Guillestre station included in holiday price. Train:

Transfers from nearest train station (Monestier-de-Clermont) to first accommodation

Monestier (return from Lus-la-Croix-Haute) on the line towards Veynes and Gap.

at Nice to take the line Nice-Cuneo and descend at St-Dalmas-de-Tende. Transfers for

Alpine Adventure: Lake Geneva to Nice/Menton: (pages 41-43)
Evian (Part 1 Evian to Chamonix): Transfer from Evian train station included in the
holiday price. Train: Eurostar trains run services from London St Pancras to Paris.
Take RER to Paris Gare de Lyon and take train to Bellegarde. Change for train to
Evian. Car: If arriving by car the best solution is to park at Bellegarde station and
take the train to Evian. At the end of the holiday take train from Chamonix to Belle-
garde (as there are no longer any trains from Chamonix to Evian). Flights: Fly to
Geneva Airport (regular services from lots of UK airports) and then take the train to
Lausanne and then the boat across the lake from Lausanne to Evian.
Chamonix (Part 2 Chamonix to Briançon): Train: Eurostar trains run services
from London St Pancras to Paris. Take RER to Paris Gare de Lyon and take train to
Bellegarde. Change for train to Chamonix. Trains also from Lyon and Marseille via
Bellegarde. Car: There is secure parking to leave your car in Chamonix (about 40
euros for the week), although return train journey is long. Another option is to leave
your car in Chambery and for the return journey take a TGV from Bardoneccia to
Chambery. Flights: Regular flights to Lyon St Exupery and then train as above. Also
possible to fly to Geneva and take trains from Geneva with a couple of changes.
Return: From Nevache take shuttle buses to either Briançon to take TER local trains
or to Bardoneccia to take TVG to Chambery and then Paris.
Briançon (Part 3 Briançon to St Etienne de Tinee): Train: Eurostar trains run
services from London St Pancras to Paris, Lyon and Marseille. Overnight TGV trains to
Briançon from Austerlitz station, or TGV to Valence or Lyon and Grenoble and then
TER to Briançon. TER from Marseille to Briançon. Also TGV trains to Oulx in Italy and
shuttle bus to Briançon. At end of holiday shuttle bus to Nice. TGV trains from Nice to
Lyon and Paris. Flights: Regular flights from UK to Paris, Lyon, Marseille and return-

La Grave, Les Ecrins (page 43)
Transfer from La Grave included in holiday price. Train & bus: Eurostar and the TGV
from London to Lyon Part Dieu or Valence TGV, via Lille or Paris. From there local
train services to Grenoble or Briancon. Buses from Grenoble or Briancon to La Grave
with service LER35. Also possible to drive and leave your car at La Grave. End of
holiday, take bus from Monestier to Grenoble or Briancon for onward train journey or
to La Grave to collect car. Flights: flights from the UK to Lyon St Exupery, then bus
