ORION
SHOPPING CENTRE
The lucky ducks studying at USQ
Springfield campus over the past year
or so have seen Orion shopping centre
transform from ‘that place with the food
court’ to a hub of activity keeping you
in Springfield long after your lecture is
finished.
Firstly, there’s the food! The introduction
of trendy essentials Grill’d and Guzman Y
Gomez provide a wonderful selection of
fairly budget-friendly lunch options, while
Chocolateria San Churro is the perfect spot
for a coffee and cramming session. Add
to that the fancier options in Beach House
and Lone Star Rib House and you could
stick around for dinner too.
Then there’s the Springfield Hotel, finally
an off-campus watering hole that caters
for young, old and everyone in between.
Post-uni Fridays are particularly popular
and is the perfect opportunity to catch up
with friends in a social setting.
For those with a magnetic credit card,
don’t worry, there’s plenty of shopping
available from the penny-saving Smiggle
and Jay-Jays to the back-pocket busters
like Roger David and Colette. Then there’s
the coffee, the cinemas, the medical centre
upstairs and the lagoon across the road…
the list goes on.
With all this in walking distance from
the Springfield campus, it’s the perfect
excuse for a breath of fresh air on your
study break. Even if you don’t study in
Springfield, it’s worth the trip on your
weekend.
