music chasing wolves john street Chasing Wolves formed from friendships of local Brisbane artists in mid-2013 performing in the local areas of Brisbane and Toowoomba. Bands including Parkway Drive, The Ghost Inside, I Killed The Prom Queen and Suicide Silence are all inspirations to the heavy metal-core genre that is Chasing Wolves, or as the singer comments, ‘…A sound in a town that’s never had anything so heavy come out of it before.’ Their latest single ‘John Street’ follows the singer’s personal experiences of the 2011 floods in Brisbane. Their chosen genre of music helps express the rage and tragedy of this unfortunate series of events. The lyrics describe the inescapable wrath of the flood as he was forced to the rooftop of his house where he, ‘…was trapped with no escape.’ The song illustrates the true horror of Mother Nature and portrays a strong message of survival with the line, ‘I never thought I’d make it… But here I stand, a survivor.’ WORDS: MICHAEL BLISS – USQ Student IMAGES: SUPPLIED Performing at events such as THE FUZZBOX, THE LAB and the Which Way Festival, their most recent performance was staged at the Free West Papua Benefit gig in Toowoomba. Along with future gigs, the band plans to write and record an EP by the end of the year, while potential music videos are likely to enhance their viewing traffic online. Chasing Wolves’ music may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but their dedication and strong connection with their community should be enough to at least check them out! members Vocalist – Michael Faber Drums – Cameron Lejeune Guitar – Nathan “Milky” Weirman Guitar – Timmy Jahnke FREE MUSIC ON BANDCAMP WATCH ON YOUTUBE LIKE ON FACEBOOK
