uni life WHAT TO WATCH The Water Diviner Where: Now showing in cinemas Russell Crowe both directs and stars in this emotionally charged display of Australian film-making talent. Inspired by true events, The Water Diviner follows Crowe’s character across the globe as he travels to Turkey in search of his missing sons who served in World War I. Visually, you can expect stunning cinematography that contrasts the raw brutality of war with scenic panoramas of iconic Australian landscapes and insights into the bustling hive of Istanbul, Turkey. Incorporating romance and family dynamics, this is a film that can be enjoyed and understood regardless of how familiar you are with the history of the First World War. I must admit, I was quite reluctant to see this film, however, it far exceeded my expectations and was 110 minutes very well spent! It’s the perfect way to take your mind off study and immerse yourself in a great Australian story. WORDS: JESS THORNTON – USQ Student IMAGES: thewaterdivinermovie.com.au VISIT THE WEBSITE
