honeymoon destinations Destinations Choosing your honeymoon location can be difficult but make sure you choose the right one, it only happens once! HONEYMOON Maldives PuertoMorelos, Mexico Cartagena, Colombia This fishing village may lie just down the highway from Cancun but don’t let the location fool you: it’s downright sleepy in comparison. Its pristine natural beauty — think white-sand beaches and mangrove forests — and quaint town square have attracted a number of expats and artists, bringing casual yet top-notch restaurants, plus cutesy shops and galleries to this under-the-radar spot. This South American spot has long been a favorite for well-heeled explorers. Now it’s luring an even wider group of travelers, attracted by artsy boutique hotels opened by fashion designers and plazas overflowing with galleries and museums. We love its walled historic district with narrow streets and well-preserved Spanish Colonial architecture. Curaçao We love the Caribbean for its crystal blue waters, but this island has plenty to keep you busy even if you never hit the sand, including a capital city full of historic architecture and a world-class art museum. The museum sits in a complex of restored 18th- and 19th-century Dutch homes. Okinawa, Japan Americans know this string of islands south of Japan more for its World War II history (or Karate Kid II setting) than its tourist charms. But visitors to the archipelago quickly find themselves captivated by its beautiful tropical scenery, funky island vibe and strong local food culture.
