Sisterhood

by Sierra Bruggink

She is there,

Like a rock in a turning charcoal sea,

She is kind,

Like a cool breeze on a hot day,

She is quirky,

Like a one way street,

She makes you laugh.

She claims to have the perfect cure,

To a broken heart.

She's not perfect.

She has her scares,

Her chips,

Like antique wood.

She's frustrating.

She's very frustrating,

When she's right.

Your sister.

Bound,

With laughter and love,

Running deeper than the midfields in Africa,

Expanding across continents,

Breaking languages,

Shattering traditions,

Disintegrating bearers,

Sisters.

United by,

Something,

Bigger than the stars,

Greater than fire,

As unbreakable,

As a diamond,

Sisterhood.

The Guarantee of,

A companion,

A friend,

A comrade,

A partner,

A cohort,

A buddy,

A collaborator,

A sister.

No matter where the winds of life go,

No matter what trial,

No matter what test,

No matter how big the mountain,

No matter how far the swim,

No matter,

The highs,

The lows.

She will be there,

A call away,

A word away,

A hand away,

A voice to cheer you on,

Wisdom to shelter you,

Love to warm you,

Your sister.

Sisters.

Sisterhood.
