Wall of Stories Snapshots
To highlight the true impact of viral hepatitis on individuals’ lives, we
profile a story from our Wall of Stories each month. This month Baltazar
from the Philippines shares his heart-breaking story of how hepatitis B
has torn his family apart.

Together our stories can change the way the world sees viral hepatitis. The
stories of those living with or impacted by viral hepatitis can help educate
and raise awareness, provide support and inspiration, tackle stigma and
discrimination, and highlight the true impact of this global disease.
This is why this month we re-launched the Wall of Stories which you can
explore by clicking here.
Help us raise awareness of viral hepatitis by submitting a contribution; you
can write a short story, create a poem, or pen a letter to hepatitis, or you
can send us a short video or photo essay highlighting your experiences. We
accept entries in all languages!
“
Each day I wake up is a
triumph in my fight to live.
”
“I am Baltazar C. Lucas, 32 years old. I have been diagnosed with Liver
Cancer from Hepatitis B. Between 2008-2013, I lost all 3 of my brothers
to Hepatitis B and Liver Cancer. As the last of my brothers remaining,
it can be easy to lose hope, but I am also a son, a husband and a
father, and I cling to the hope that I will not leave my remaining family
prematurely. I tell my story in the hope that others may learn about
how common hepatitis B is, how deadly it can be, but also how early
detection can help.”
