DUE TO GENEROUS GIFTS, the couple spent a week enjoying au- thentic Japanese cuisine. an apartment or home, and they have the things that were once considered a tradi- tional wedding gift. Couples began to get creative. “We have seen cash registries up 50 per- cent since 2016,” said The Knot Style and Planning Editor Alyssa Longobucco. “It’s increasing in popularity. The traditional wedding registry isn’t going anywhere soon, so it’s not like you’re no longer going to the store, but piecing together the puzzle is becoming more popular.” It’s simple. The bride completes wedding information on the site, fills in banking account information, and once the wedding is over, all funds gifted by guests are moved to her personal bank account. Options are endless. Couples can include the big-box store items, local boutiques or small businesses, as well as the cash reg- istry all on one site. If the couple selected the cash registry, they can even break down what they will use the funds for, from din- ing out, plane tickets, hotel reservations and so on. The Knot is a website many couples are turning to for the entire wedding planning process. “Our goal is to help couples with every aspect, narrow in on their style, manage a guest list and connect with local vendors in the area from florists, reception halls and more. It’s really an all-in-one site,” Longo- bucco said. As couples find themselves more estab- lished and financially stable, they start to think about honeymoon costs, the new puppy they’ve had their eye on and buying their first home. Not only do guests find the cash registry convenient, it’s also fun to watch the cou- ples’ interests and passions show through their requests, Longobucco said. “I love the cash registries that are really touching,” Longobucco said. “We’ve seen adoption funds, IVF funds, all the way to that special Game of Thrones tour you want to take on your honeymoon.”
